Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is your soap good for sensitive skin?
We use ingredients that your skin loves and the glycerin in each bar draws moisture directly to your skin leaving it smooth and silky vs the dry and tight feeling you get from most commercial brand soaps. People who have used our soap have expressed excitement about finally finding a soap that works for a variety of problematic skin conditions that they have been previously unable to soothe. We also specifically formulated an Olive Oil soap for people who have allergies/issues with coconut oil which is normally a very important ingredient in soap making.
Important note:
We always recommend trying anything new to your skin in a small application.
You can find more information on "Patch Testing" here.
Does your soap have a scent?
The majority of our soaps do not include any "fragrance".. Any smell they have is from the ingredients themselves.
We do currently offer two soaps that are scented with essential oil which are natural.. (LemonGrass and Mint.)
Fragrance in commercial brand products is one of the main reasons we decided to make our own soap.
You can read more about why you may want to avoid artificial fragrances here.
Why can't I order? The soap I want seems to be out of stock in your shop?
Soap making can be a rather complicated process. Our soap is made in small batches and it takes 4-6 weeks for each bar to cure into a hard bar so there is a limited number of soaps for sale at any given time. Once the batch is sold out it may be several days before the next batch is ready to be listed so it's sold on a first come first served basis. We will adjust to accommodate orders as best we can but we have no plans to crank out thousands of bars so it's a really good idea to join our V.I.P. contact list (found at the very bottom of this page) or at the very least follow our Creations by Annie B page to see notifications as soon as soap becomes available.
Do you have more than one kind of soap?
Yes, we currently have several soaps available for purchase and we are always taking feedback from our customers to provide them with soaps that are a pleasure to use. In addition to our soap bars we have hockey puck shaped soaps and a number of flower shaped soaps. There is really something for everyone.
Does your soap require any special care?
Like any soap we recommend you simply keep it in a place where it can air dry and not sit in a puddle of water that could make it soft and mushy. You can find some great tips on making your soap last here.
Additionally, care should always be taken to not slip and fall in the tub so be sure to stay safe with a non slip bathmat. We also may have some lanyard soaps (soaps on ropes) available in our shop periodically.
Why is your soap so amazing?
It’s all about the ingredients...
Clean by Annie B’s bar soap is full of the best ingredients and free of the nasty stuff that doesn’t belong in your soap or on your body. What can you expect from this bar of awesomeness? Skin that is so soft, you may just break up with your favorite body lotion. Antioxidant rich, our soap helps to protect your skin and may prevent premature aging. Finally, our soap is soothing to skin because many of our ingredients are known for their anti-inflammatory properties so it’s great for those with sensitive skin or who have skin conditions like eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.
Do you have a soap that is good for exfoliation?
Indeed we do... Our "Daily Grind" is a beast when it comes to exfoliating those rough areas. It's coffee grounds are more abrasive than most of the other exfoliating products we have personally tried so be gentle on yourself and follow up with our soothing Honey Oatmeal or goat's milk soap. Our A.C.G. soap is another great exfoliator.
How long will one bar of soap last?
Our soaps are generous portions at apron 5.5oz each. When you consider that your average bar of "Dial" soap is 3.5oz "Irish spring" is 3.2oz, etc you are getting more soap in each bar and the relatively square shape tends to wear more evenly than your typical commercial soap brands. Our soaps actually start around 6.5oz when they are first cut but lose weight during the curing process where the water evaporates from the soap which in turn hardens the bar and adds to its longevity. It really depends on how many people are in your home using the soap and how many times per day you use it but the general consensus is it lasts longer than people expect it too.
I will add that having a ton of fantastic soaps in our home has led to no less than five soaps in the shower area at all times... This one to exfoliate... This one for all over.... This one on the face just for good measure. Showering becomes less of a task and more of an experience. :)
